About the Artist
Born and raised in Iowa, I don’t remember a time in my life that I wasn’t drawing. I always had a passion for art and found my creativity grew as I did. By my senior year in high school I was certain I would pursue a degree in the creative fields. With the assistance of my wonderful high school art teacher, a special schedule of art classes were mapped out to prep me for college.
I attended Graceland University in Lamoni, Iowa. I entered my freshman year declaring two majors, Commercial Design and Fine Art; Painting. I studied under different artistic philosophies. I found as I nurtured my talent, I gathered from people and experiences and many different elements were taking hold in my art. While at Graceland I received numerous awards for my paintings. I continued with my double major, knowing my heart stayed with painting and reality lay in the hands of the Commercial Design degree. Four years later, I graduated with a double major and set out to find a job.
Marrying the summer after graduation, I moved to the Kansas City area with my husband. I landed a job as a graphic designer for an area magazine. Four and a half years into that Graphic Design job I was the Senior Graphic Designer in charge of the design and production of the monthly publication. I learned a lot during those years. With all my responsibility to the magazine I found little time for painting although that is where my heart remained.
I had done a couple of murals and paintings on the side but found the hours as a Graphic Designer didn’t leave much spare room. I felt so much joy in the moments I was able to create a new nursery for a couple expecting a new baby, or painting a restaurant for first time business owners. I knew it was time to step out on my own and provide art for others full time.
Alli Arnold Art was created keeping a commitment to improving personal spaces through art. I am a firm believer in surrounding yourself with expressions of you. I bring diverse abilities to fulfill individual requests and styles. My artwork has one specific goal: make others happy with their new visual environment. Making art for others has always been my dream. I am living that dream today.
Along with doing custom paintings and murals, I continue working on original paintings. I am currently developing a series of Quote Paintings that combine expressive moments and inspiring words. I find inspiration not only from other artists, but from song writers, story tellers and poets. In these paintings I provide a moment to reflect on both image and word as they join together in one harmonious expression on canvas.
You will find other styles in my original paintings gallery as well. I enjoy exploring art to its fullest. Abstracts and expressionistic work will all be included. To me, that is the beauty of art. To quote my favorite artist, Georgia O’Keeffe, “I want to fill space in a beautiful way.” And what is beautiful about art is it could be any color, any form, any set of shapes or images on any day.
